Studio Carolina Izzo has joined forces with Parnell Inc.* for their huge fundraising effort for Starship National Air Ambulance Service.  It is almost the Chinese Year of the Monkey, so a unique and exciting exhibition showcasing 30 life-sized monkey art pieces, is being hosted in Parnell from 6-21 Feb. Following the exhibition, these art-pieces will then be auctioned for charity with profits going to Starship National Air Ambulance Service.

The formal auction will take place on the evening of the White Night celebrations, Saturday 12 March, at 6.30pm, with all of the monkeys on display at Webb’s for a final viewing from 11.00am. We welcome you to join us for pre-auction refreshments at 5.30pm and to meet some of the artists involved. Parnell Inc is delighted to give its support to The Starship Foundation, with profits from the auction going towards the Starship National Air Ambulance Service.

Studio Carolina Izzo is representing with two gilded Monkeys, Gina and David

GINA

CREATED BY: CAROLINA IZZO
On view at: Orsini Fine Jewellery, 241 Parnell Road
Gina is covered with real gold leaf. Gina generally has a lot of confidence in herself: smart and patient, with the ability to be polished. The fact that she is discreet and secret should not obscure her cold inner determination. Although intuitive, she trusts and prefers to proceed with logic. Regarding affection, she seems much colder than she is. In fact she shares a deep sense of friendship especially to friends and a strong attachment to family members.
And…

DAVID

CREATED BY: CAROLINA IZZO
On view at: Sutcliffe Jewellery, 203 Parnell Road
A strong, striking creature, David was inspired by David Bowie’s song ‘Golden Years’. His creation came about in memory of the great performer, with the variegated gold leaf suit certainly reflecting the Bowie flare!
FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL FUNDRAISER PLEASE GOT TO THE WEBSITE OF PARNELL INC.

It is our very great privilege to welcome Barbara to our Studio for the November Studio talk. With a long history as a New Zealand artist on the international scene, we will hear about Barbara’s work in Italy and back home.

For many years, Barbara lived in Italy where her work was celebrated. An early success was the invitation to exhibit at the prestigious Quadriennale di Roma in 1977. The following year she began dividing her time between Wellington and Trieste, exhibiting abstract work in Italy and paintings about NZ’s colonial history in private and public galleries here. Since then she has continued to exhibit throughout New Zealand.

Barbara will talk about the collaborative relationship between Artists and Curators and also her experience maintaining an international career while sustaining ties with home.

Multi-disciplinary, Barbara is also a published illustrator and novelist. Do not miss the chance to join us for this rare opportunity to get an insight into the artist’s world.

Carolina Izzo in the TOP 5 speakers at TEDx Christchurch

Carolina Izzo was named in the Top 5 speakers at TEDx Christchurch 2015.

Carolina became part of the TEDx team to explain just how the painted dome at the Isaac Theatre Royal was restored, and she got to do it from the stage of the Theatre where she and her team worked for two years to restore the dome to its former glory.  The warm reception Carolina received was deeply gratifying, but more than that, Carolina enjoyed listening to the other speakers.  She said of the day-long celebration of ideas, “Best hospitality, best event and charming people. YouTEDxChristchurch Rock! I am so inspired by the possibilities that this event has created to the community. Thank you for what you are providing, has been a privilege to be part of the event.”

Now she is going to tell us just how she did it!  Tickets to the TEDx event are selling fast – don’t miss out on a day of ideas and innovations.

Studio Carolina Izzo opens in Auckland

Studio Carolina Izzo – Auckland, officially opened in Auckland 7 August.  It was open-house all day, with many visitors coming from all over New Zealand to join us for a very celebratory time.  We were privileged to have a Studio blessing by Te Waari Carkeek from Te Papa Tongarewa.  Te Waari has a painting of one of his ancestors with us at the studio, the presence of this taonga made the ceremony even more special.  After lunch Carmelo Barbarello, the Italian Ambassador, cut the ribbon to the lab and gave a speech of support from the Italian community.  We also had a speech from art curator, Lesleigh Salinger and then Carolina gave us all an insight into her philosophy about the importance of art and heritage conservation.  Maria and Riccardo from the Wellington Studio were here, as was Stefano from Christchurch, but Paola from Christchurch was unable to be with us – we missed her.  Along with artists, art dealers, auctioneers, patrons, and collectors, we were very well supported by family and friends.  It was a great way to begin.
